The Baking Process

Our bakers begin with prayer, led by the priest. They pray for God's blessings on their work, those who will partake of it, the priests who will consecrate and distribute it, those who go hungry, the sick and suffering, and the whole of the Church. We use an old third-century recipe and a fire oven. In keeping with the ancient traditions, we use all the Old-World methods to preserve the integrity of the bread. Just as the holy monks taught us, we see our baking as more than a charitable act. To us, it is a holy vocation. With joyful hymns and psalms, we go about the preparation of the bread, treating it with proper respect befitting the dignity of this substance which is to become Christ Himself. Having fasted in preparation for baking, our bakers have made their own sacrifice to remind them, in a small way, of Christ's Sacrifice on the Cross. When baking has been completed, we inspect the bread for imperfections. Only top quality is acceptable. Christ deserves the best from us and we do not believe in providing anything less than the very best for Him. We then say a prayer of thanksgiving for God's goodness in providing successful fruits of our labor.
